Next Time, The "Paperfreude"

“Schadenfreude” is a German word that means “taking pleasure in the misfortunes of others”. So far as I know, English has no synonymous term.
Nevertheless, many (perhaps all) of us are subject to a secret satisfaction in not only the misfortune of our enemies, adversaries, and annoying relatives, but even of strangers. I hate to admit it, but when I see someone else take a thumping in life, I’m sometimes moved to sympathy—but other times, moved to schadenfreude.
For example, even after the recent plunge in the price of gold, since A.D. 2000, the price of gold has increased from $275 to $1390—about 400%. During the same period, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose from about 12,000 to 14,000—about 16%. If we figure for inflation, those who’ve “bet” in the Dow have lost (some of) their assets over the past 12 years. Those who “bet” on gold profited.
And I (as a “gold bug”) have felt a real sense of satisfaction knowing that my ideological “enemies”—the “paperbugs” who believe in paper stock, paper bonds and paper gold—were losing their wealth to a significant degree. Thus, I’ve enjoyed to “shadenfreude” for most of the past 12 years.
However, over the past 18 months (when gold has moved generally down or sideways), my ability to gloat over the “paperbugs” was seriously diminished. They were prospering; I was not.
Worse, after the “April Plunge” of $200 (13%) in the price of gold, I had absolutely nothing to laugh about, my capacity for shadenfreude was shattered, and I was in deep need of sympathy.
Of course, the paperbugs offered no sympathy whatsoever. Turn about was fair play, and now they had their shot at shadenfreude and felt elated by the goldbugs’ lament.
In fact, Business Insider published an article that coined a new word: “goldenfreude” to signify the glee felt by paperbugs over the goldbugs’ recent, shocking losses. The article was entitled, “GOLDENFREUDE: Here's Why People Are So Glad That Gold Is Crashing” and declared in part,
“Gold is absolutely getting wrecked. Its 2-day loss is over 10%. We haven't seen a decline like that since 1980. We already explained why the gold crash is good news, because it represents a turn away from rocks, and towards humanity.”
Ohh, puleese! Are we to believe there’s something especially “humane” about being a paperbug who believes in fiat currencies?
How does that “humanity” square up to with research by monetary scholar Edwin Vieira that shows the reigning monetary system fails and has to be replaced about every 30 to 40 years? The last time the U.S. monetary system was replaced was circa A.D. 1971, when Nixon cancelled the convertibility of dollars into gold. And here we are, 40 years later, and it seems clear that today’s monetary system is breaking and likely to fail in the near future. There’ll be no significant change in any nation’s currency that isn’t accompanied by serious economic dislocation and pain for that nation’s people.
According to a study of 775 fiat currencies by DollarDaze.org, there’s no historical precedent for any fiat currency that successfully held its value over time. 20% failed through hyperinflation, 21% were destroyed by war, 12% destroyed by independence, 24% were monetarily reformed, and 23% are still in circulation but approaching one of the other outcomes.
More, the average life expectancy for a fiat currency is 27 years. America has had a pure fiat currency for 42 years. We’re about due for a change. When today’s fiat currency fails, there’ll be significant economic turmoil and pain for the average American. Where’s the “humanity” in that?
Nevertheless, Goldenfreude exists. Why? Business Insider listed several explanations, including:
1. “Part of it is a reaction to the constant goldbugs’ religious hectoring while others seriously discuss and address economic problems.”
They’re right about the “religious hectoring”. We goldbugs tend to be self-righteous and sanctimonious. We’re particularly annoying because we’re right (and the paperbugs know it). Thus, we can be a real pain in the buns for those “sinners” who have a false faith in the value of fiat currency and paper debt instruments.
As for the paperbugs who “seriously discuss and address economic problems,” those discussions are based on their misguided (or greedy) faith in the racket called “fiat currency”. The paperbugs aren’t merely trying to make the fiat currency system work—they’re trying to find a way exploit and profit from that system.
Goldbugs should give the devil his due and admit that a lot of wealth has been acquired by those who understand how to capitalize on fiat currency. For the paperbugs, fiat currency has been a sweet racket. However, the result isn’t the acquisition of wealth that’s been earned so much as stolen. That ethical point may not matter to paper-bugs? Fiat currency has been a profitable fraud for several decades and they don’t want to hear any holy-roller goldbugs reminding them of their sins.
One of the fundamental reasons for the “gold-bugs’ religious hectoring” is to warn all the monetary atheists out there that those who live by the paper debt instruments will inevitably die by the paper debt instruments. We’re warning the public that in every instance when a government or economy began to rely on a monetary system based on paper or digital currency rather than gold or silver, that fiat currency collapsed and so did their national economy.
Worse, we’re not only warning the paperbugs that their fiat currency racket is bound to crash (and fairly soon)—we’re also warning them that their fiat currency racket is morally wrong since it’s designed to rob creditors. We’re warning the paperbugs of a monetary judgment day. But the paper-bugs are having so much fun “sinning,” that we goldbugs are as unwelcome as Seventh Day Adventists who’ve come a-knockin’ at the door.
2. One paper-bug said, “The cocksuredness of the goldbugs is surely part of goldenfreude–that, plus the fear mongering.”
But why shouldn’t we be “cocksure”? Why shouldn’t we “fearmonger” to the paperbugs. Why not tout the advantages of gold? Why not warn of the dangers of fiat currency? We know that gold has been the primary form of money throughout much of the world for several thousand years. We know that, so far, fiat currencies always fail. Betting on gold is like betting on gravity—it’s pretty much a sure thing.
History is on our side.
But, paperbugs keep claiming (hoping) “this time it’s different”.
3. Taking a different slant, one writer explained goldenfreude’s popularity as the result of something that everyone likes to see: The man on a lucky hot streak suddenly realizing he's not that good.
Well, I hope the paperbugs enjoyed the goldbugs’ discomfort while they could. In a fiat currency world, gold is bound to rise again and with it, so will the goldbugs. As I write this article, the price of gold has already regained over half of the $208 losses suffered in the April Plunge.
We’re baaack!
Ok—not quite. But almost everyone can read the writing on the market’s wall. In an odd way, the April Plunge in the price of gold didn’t shake confidence in gold—it strengthened that confidence.
4. After the April Plunge, even Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman piled on:
“Well, the inflationistas/goldbugs are really, really annoying—all this air of having the secret wisdom when they actually haven't a clue. And they have been a real destructive factor in policy debate, standing in the way of effective policy by raising fears of Weimar and Zimbabwe. So seeing the one thing they got right—betting on higher gold prices—turn sour is cause for a bit of celebration.”
Despite his Nobel Prize, Mr. Krugman (an inveterate paperbug) is mistaken. We goldbugs actually have a few clues. For example, we know that gold has been money for 3,000 years. We know that our current fiat dollars are only 42 years old and likely to fail in the near future. We know that the Bible declares God’s anger at those who use unjust “weights and measures” in their commerce—and we know that fiat currency has a constantly changing value that makes unjust “weights and measures” not merely possible but inevitable. If the Bible is true, even God hates fiat currency.
Therefore, we goldbugs are just as “really, really annoying” as preachers in a cat house. The paperbugs want to continue to prostitute themselves in the fiat-currency “house of ill repute”. We goldbugs keep warning them that not only “the end is near” but also that they’ll pay a serious price for their prostitution. So, of course we’re “really, really annoying”.
5. Nouriel "Dr. Doom" Roubini also celebrated goldenfraude by reportedly tweeting:“Gold Bugs & @jamesgrickards in stupefied catatonic state as gold now has fallen from a peak of $1950 in 2011 to $1350 today. Eat your gold!”
Well, the day is coming when Dr. Roubini and all the other paperbugs who invest in manipulated stock markets will also have an opportunity to “eat their paper stock certificates” . . . and their paper pensions and paper dollar savings accounts, too. More, unless they’re termites, they won’t find those paper “delicacies” to be particularly nutritious or palatable.
6. According to Reuters, after the April Plunge, billionaire George Soros said,
"Gold was destroyed as a safe haven, proved to be unsafe. Because of the disappointment, most people are reducing their holdings of gold.”
Soros may be a billionaire, but that doesn’t make him omniscient. Soros was wrong.
First, physical “gold” was not destroyed as a safe haven—but confidence in paper gold has been badly diminished.
Second, instead of most people reducing their gold holding, during the April Plunge dealers reported that for every customer who sought to sell his gold, there were 50 who wanted to buy. Since the April Plunge, the sudden increase in the global demand for gold has been virtually unprecedented.
• Dr. Marc Faber, the Swiss fund manager and publisher of the 'Gloom, Boom and Doom Report' did not celebrate “goldenfreude”. Instead, being a “really, really annoying” goldbug, Dr. Faber surveyed the carnage of the April Plunge and offered some objective observations:
"At the moment, a lot of people are knocking gold down. But if we look at the records, gold is now down 21% from the September 2011 high. Apple is down 39% from last year's high.
“At the same time, the S&P is at about not even up 1% from the peak in October 2007. Over the same period of time, even after today's correction gold is up 100%.
“The S&P is up 2% over the March 2000 high. Gold is up 442%.
“So I am happy we have a sell-off that will lead to a major low. . . . I think that the bull market in gold is not completed."
Exactly. We goldbugs are back. We aren’t quite laughing—at least not yet. But we’re grinning. We’re preachin’ in the cat house and loving our work. And the paperbugs are starting to look very pained and nervous. Perhaps they’re just about ready to abandon paper and go for the (physical) gold.
• After the April Plunge, paperbugs had a good dose of “goldenfreude”. I hope they enjoyed it. But I think that’s all they’re going to get.
Next time, the “paperfreude”.
That’s when we goldbugs get to laugh, and laugh and laugh at all our little friends who insisted on believing in the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus and paper promises to pay—but saw those paper promises turn into ashes.
(“Paperfreude”. I know it’s not right to take pleasure in my adversary’s pain. Still, the idea of “paperfreude” makes me grin, just to think about it.)

You need passwords, code, or a key to obtain access to things which are important or things that need protecting. We attempt to add more security in an insecure world. Keys are important but you have to beware not to use them improperly or bad things can happen. A good example was the birth of penicillin. Scientists thought they had unlocked the code to destroying life-threatening bacteria. VIRAL CODE
The viral code I refer to is not digital for computers. The viral code science is tinkering with is of a human and animal nature. Scientists are discovering ways to cross the RNA and DNA of pathogens to jump the gap from animal to human. For instance, the news reports of the recent development of the bat virus to infect humans. Science seems to be creating mutating species of viruses to exhaust a human immune system already weak with antibiotics and vaccines. In just three generations there has been an explosion of disease along with an explosion of knowledge and technology. VIRAL DANCING
I know that if you engage in traditional dancing you have to have a partner. So, I have to ask has science been the partner infectious animal viruses and bacteria needed to cross the great barrier to infect humans? Zoonoses still does not explain why monkey, bat and bird disease, which never before plagued man have all of a sudden evolved into a sophisticated human killer plague. Is the bird flu really mutating or are scientists creating new strains? Mad cow disease didn't happen until farmers fed the cows meat. There has to be an external stimulant not evident in nature to be causing this surge in killer pathogens.

YOUR KEY
Science may be hard at work unlocking disease codes and playing Russian roulette with humanity but we also have important keys as a defense. James Duke, PhD writes in his book The Green Pharmacy that medicinal plants have been under more research in the last hundred years. We are reminded that the pharmaceutical industry evolved from using plants. There is a key to using medicinal plants for the best therapeutic impact. James Duke developed a rating system to distinguish between plants with the most potency and those with mild to limited benefits. It all rests on the "efficacy key." This key determines if you will be delivering powerful plant medicine to the body. THERAPEUTIC DOSES
If you follow the doses in the US and European Pharmacopeias and those endorsed by Germany 's E Commission then you will be shortchanging your herbal supplements efficacy. Everyone will have a different tolerance level to herbs. Some may even be allergic. If you are over 100 pounds the rule-of-thumb which herbalist go by for herb tincture doses are 1 to 4 droppers full (equal to ¼ to 1 teaspoon).
