The common adage sell in May and go away is always looked upon as perhaps a buying opportunity for gold and silver during the summer months.  Due to summer vacations and especially in Europe during the month of August little interest is shown for investments so trading volumes are low and prices usually stay steady if not fall back.

However, during the past three years gold prices actually began to climb during this time frame.  On August 6th 2011 U.S. debt was downgraded by S&P and shortly there after gold price rose to a historic high.

Lately it seems Europe has the most influence on gold prices.   The elections haven't done one thing for the Greek people or their debt because their debt is too great to be repaid.  Many fail to realize the United States is far worse and will meet with the same demise.

Although buying of Gold and Silver Eagles have increased substantially in May they are horribly lower by 45% from the year before.  So far in 2012 the Mint has sold over 283,500 ounces of Gold Eagles.

Again, demand and prices seem to dominate in areas of quality.  I am pleasantly surprised to see the type of demand for the MS66 St. Gaudens and the MS66 Morgan silver dollar offered last week so I am extending this special once again. Since that time Gold is up $30 with silver up .30.  This package includes all shipping for Registered and Insured U.S.Mail.

MS66 St. Gaudens - Minted from 1907-1933, the $20 gold coin known as the St. Gaudens Double Eagle is considered by many to be the most beautiful type of U.S. coin ever minted. A favorite among investors and collectors, coins from this series have historically continued to appreciate due to their significant role in U.S. history, attractiveness to collectors, and brilliant gold content.

MS66 Morgan Silver Dollar - These superior, high-end MS66 Morgan Silver Dollar gems have it all; dazzling eye-appeal, blazing original mint luster, and beautiful pristine surfaces that exhibit a rich, brilliant shine. The devices are crisp and well struck with lots of wonderful detail throughout. These are very impressive gem graded coins that are sure to please even the most discerning investor. Coins from this series have historically appreciated due to very strong investor demand, attractiveness to collectors, their significant role in U.S. history, and brilliant precious metal content.

Morgan dollar designer George T. Morgan placed an M on both sides of the coin to lay his claim; the first time a designer had done this in U.S. coinage history! The 'M' appears near Lady Liberty's neck on the obverse (front) and on the ribbon's left loop on the reverse (back) side. Morgan's obverse features a stunning portrait of Lady Liberty. The reverse depicts a somewhat lean eagle that led some to nickname the coin the "buzzard dollar." Morgan Silver Dollars underwent numerous design changes during the 43-year production span. Both the arrow feathers and the eagle's tail feathers on the reverse especially received many subtle yet definitive revisions and as such, spawned an incredible number of Morgan Dollar varieties (VAM types) making these brilliant cartwheels an avid collector's dream!

Total cost of this package  $3,000

Titanic Tech

The luxury liner Titanic sank on its maiden voyage in A.D. 1912 from England to America.  Before it embarked, the ship's captain said, "I cannot conceive of any vital disaster happening to this vessel.  Modern shipbuilding has gone beyond that."

The captain was convinced that "modern shipbuilding" technology had advanced to a point where "modern" ships were unsinkable.

The man responsible for building the Titanic reportedly declared, "God, Himself, could not sink the Titanic."  That report is probably false.  Nevertheless, the sentiment expressed and subsequent sinking of the Titanic perfectly illustrates mankind's tendency to arrogant overconfidence in our technology.  Whenever we think we're "so smart" that nothing can possibly go wrong, we've embraced a "Titanic Technology" that's more akin to magic and superstition than science.

•  Man has always had a "damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!" mentality.  We believe that "what man can dream, man can do."  That attitude is in our nature; in our blood; in our testosterone.

So it's no surprise that we tend to elect politicians and leaders who claim to have a dream, a vision, and the determination to make that vision happen.

Likewise, it's no surprise that politicians who don't have brains enough to imagine what they'll have for breakfast tomorrow still claim to have a "vision" or "plan" for the future.  They know the voters love voting for men with aggressive, innovative "plans".  Often, these "plans" ("Change you can believe in"?!) turn out be imaginary or even treasonous.  But—no matter—we still vote for the "man with the plan".

Looking back, it's clear that man's dreams, visions and plans have, on balance, been beneficial. Almost everything that passes for civilization today is based on some early innovator's extraordinary "plan".  Time and again, we've elected, appointed or submitted to some "Rough Rider" who had a "plan" that he forced upon us and thereby drove mankind kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.

However, as our technologies become increasingly powerful (and "magical") and as the human population grows increasingly numerous, our visions and plans increasingly touch on devastating powers that are only barely understood.  Our individual, corporate and national hubris convinces us that we can "boldly go where no man's gone before".  But, increasingly, it becomes apparent that there may be some "destinations" that no man was meant to reach or even approach.

•  Two example come to mind:  genetically modified foods and nuclear power plants.

Do any of our visionaries really know what the consequence of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO food) will be?  In the name of corporate profit, will GMO foods serve the people or poison them?  Will the purported successes of GMO foods ultimately reduce the variety of food species to such a small number that a single new virus or parasite might suddenly destroy the global supply of something as fundamental as wheat or potatoes?

What about the laboratory geniuses who aren't only creating GMO foods, but probing so deeply into genetics that they're able to create new viruses that—if those viruses break free into the world environment—might destroy all of mankind?  What about the reported creations of chimeras—creatures that are partially human and partially animals?

Not even the dreamers who support these technologies believe them to be risk-free.  Still, they plunge ahead, certain that if our newfound knowledge causes a catastrophe, we will find even more knowledge to later overcome our most recent man-made catastrophe.

Over the past several thousand years, our confidence has served us well.  Yes, mankind caused catastrophes, but mankind has always overcome those catastrophes.  So far.

•  But as man's technology probes deeper into the building blocks of life and matter, we're tinkering with forces so primal that if somebody screws up, the entire world might die.   Our knowledge of genetics is one example of a "Titanic Technology".   Our knowledge of nuclear physics is another.

When most people think of nuclear physics, they think of nuclear bombs and the potential for a third world war that might "destroy civilization".  Lemme tell you something:  Nuclear bombs are a blessing compared to nuclear power plants.

Yes—nuclear war could kill billions of men and women.  There'd be some huge explosions, entire cities and even nations might cease to exist.  But as we've seen in the examples of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, despite being "nuked" in WWII, those cities were rebuilt and once again became vibrant.  Even after nuclear war, life goes on—largely because there's relatively little residual radiation after a nuclear explosion.

When it comes to nuclear weapons, there's a flash of light and radiation, a big bang, and then it's over.  In an instant, millions might die.  But after that instant, the survivors can rebuild.

Compare the fates of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the fates of Chernobyl and Fukushima.  Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed by nuclear weapons in A.D. 1945 but were quickly rebuilt and re-inhabited.  Chernobyl and Fukushima were destroyed by nuclear power plants and may never be rebuilt or re-inhabited. Which is worse?

•  According to Wikpedia,
"The Chernobyl disaster was a catastrophic nuclear accident that occurred on 26 April 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine.  An explosion and fire released large quantities of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere, which spread over much of Western USSR and Europe. It is widely considered to have been the worst nuclear power plant accident in history, and is one of only two classified as a level 7 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale (the other being the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster in 2011). . . .  The battle to contain the contamination and avert a greater catastrophe ultimately involved over 500,000 workers and cost an estimated 18 billion rubles, crippling the Soviet economy. . . .  From 1986 to 2000, 350,400 people were evacuated and resettled . . . .  The government coverup of the Chernobyl disaster was a "catalyst" for glastnost, which "paved the way for reforms leading to the Soviet collapse."
Get that?  Our government likes to claim that the Soviet Union was destroyed the sheer cost of by the Cold War's arm's race, but Chernobyl was at least the USSR's coup de grace

In A.D. 1986, a nuclear power plant exploded, and five years later the almighty Soviet Union cease to exist.  The second most powerful nation in the world was destroyed—at least in part—by a single nuclear power plant's catastrophic failure.  I don't know how many hydrogen bombs might've been required to destroy the former Soviet Union but, arguably, it took only one failed nuclear power plant to precipitate the same result.
"Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus have been burdened with the continuing and substantial decontamination and health care costs of the Chernobyl accident. . . .  between 5% and 7% of government spending in Ukraine is still related to Chernobyl.
The Chernobyl nuclear power plant was commissioned in A.D. 1977.  It exploded just nine years later.  Today, twenty-six years after the meltdown, Ukraine is still paying to deal with the disaster.  Ukraine reportedly has a "plan" to completely decommission the Chernobyl power plant by A.D. 2065—almost 80 years after the original explosion.  Presumably, Ukraine will continue to be burdened with costs associated with Chernobyl for at least another half century.
"An area extending 19 miles (31 km) in all directions from the plant [about 1,100 square miles] is known as the "zone of alienation." It is largely uninhabited, except for a few residents who have refused to leave. . . .  Ukrainian officials estimate the area will not be safe for human life again for another 20,000 years."
The design life for most nuclear power plants is just 30 to 40 years.  The "dead zone" surrounding Chernobyl may last for 20,000 years

Do you see why I say that nuclear bombs might be a blessing compared to nuclear power plants?  A nuclear war is essentially over in an instant.  Survivors can quickly reoccupy the land and rebuild.  But if a nuclear power plant explodes, the resulting radioactive contamination might render an area uninhabitable for 20,000 years

No one but God has the right to take risks that might destroy part of the earth for 20,000 years.  Any man, nation or corporation that takes such risks is mad or satanic.  Such risks implicate a "Titanic Technology".

•  Chernobyl was horrific.  Fukushima is worse.

Radiation:  Chernobyl's radiation contaminated extended even to northern Europe.  Fukushima's radiation has reached North America.

Evacuation:  Some predict that Fukushia may eventually cause Tokyo (population 13 million) to be evacuated.  That's 10% of Japan's population.  Imagine that America had to evacuate 10% (30 million) Americans from their homes.  How could we manage?  Where would we send those 30 million?  Similarly, where could Japan send 13 million?

One difference between Chernobyl and Japan:  The former USSR was a huge, largely vacant land mass.  Therefore people near Chernobyl had somewhere to run to escape Chernobyl's radiation.  But Japan is so densely populated, that those living close to Fukushima may have nowhere to run.   If so, they must stay in the "dead zone".

Dead Zone:  Chernobyl's dead zone is about 1,100 square miles; Fukushima's is "only" about 250 square miles.  But—perhaps because they have no place to put all the refugees—the Japanese government is assuring people that it's safe to remain in areas that are radioactively "hot".

The Japanese government has declared everything within 12 miles of Fukushima is too "hot" to inhabit.  Everything outside the 12 mile limit is supposedly safe enough for even children.  However, Natural News reports, "soil samples taken from outside the 12-mile exclusion zone are higher than the 1.48 million becquerels per square meter limit that triggered evacuations outside Chernobyl in 1986.  In other words, the radiation level of the soil 12 miles from Fukushima is now higher than the levels considered too dangerous to live in near Chernobyl.

Coverup: Just as the former Soviet Union tried to conceal the truth about Chernobyl, the Japanese government is trying to conceal the true extent of the disaster and consequences of Fukushima.

Political repercussions.  Just as Chernobyl may have destroyed the Soviet Union, Fukushima may destroy Japan.  Again, a single nuclear power plant explosion just might destroy a nation—or at least a national government.

Arrogance.  Prior to Chernobyl, the Soviet Union was still bragging about its technological expertise and destiny to rule the world.  Five years after Chernobyl, the USSR was gone.  Similarly, up until A.D. 1990, the Japanese people regarded themselves and their technology as "perfect".  Since Fukushima, that conceit is gone.  "Titanic Technology" is based at least as much on arrogance as science. When Titanic Technology fails, that failure typically has more to do with unwarranted arrogance than faulty science.

•  And yet, The New York Times ("Japan's Premier Seeks Support for Using Nuclear Power") reports that, despite the similarities between Chernobyl and Fukushima:
"In a rare personal appeal on national television, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda asked for his nation's support in restarting the first of Japan's 50 idled nuclear plants, saying that keeping the plants offline could cause blackouts and economic chaos at a time when the country's struggling economy can least afford it.

"That Mr. Noda took his case to the public on such an crucial issue, rather than setting policy behind closed doors, is a testament to the deep public distrust gripping the nation since last year's nuclear disaster and the government's playing down of the risks it posed. Despite increasingly dire warnings about the economic effects of a sudden turn from nuclear energy, a majority of Japanese remain unconvinced that it is safe to turn the plants back on."
Well, gee . . . what could be possibly be unsafe (or even insanely stupid) about resuming a reliance on nuclear power plant technology in a nation prone to earthquakes

After all, a nuclear power plant can provide comparatively cheap energy for 40 years (but in doing so, it will also generate a waste product that's so lethal that it must be stored for several thousand years).

The nuclear power waste storage problem essentially means screw the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and thousands of years of offspring.  We want cheap energy now (and the profits that can be generated from building nuclear power plants), and we don't give a damn if the next thousand generations have to pay for it or die from the consequences.  Our willingness to ignore the nuclear waste storage problem is a perfect example of the arrogance that's crucial to Titanic Technology.  "Damn the storage problems!  Full profits ahead!"
"Mr. Noda spoke in stark terms, saying that Japan could not maintain its current living standards without nuclear power. . . .  He also cited national security, saying Japan needed nuclear power to avoid relying too heavily on oil and natural gas from the politically volatile Middle East.

"The need to import more oil and gas to make up for the shortfall has been cited as a major factor behind Japan posting its first yearly trade deficit in more than three decades.

"Many Japanese share Mr. Noda's worry that power shortages could cost jobs and accelerate the nation's industrial decline, driving more businesses abroad.
I don't doubt that Prime Minister Noda is right.  Without nuclear power plants, businesses will flee, Japan's economy will slide into depression, the standard of living will plummet.  But with nuclear power technology, another "accident" is inevitable, more of Japan will be cordoned off into a "dead zone" and the Japanese will see more dead or deformed babies.

Japan's energy problems aren't subject to easy solutions.  There's no right answer.  Much like meth addicts, Japan has become dependent upon a technology that could destroy them.  They can't quit and they can't keep on.  What shall they do?

I don't care what "man can dream" about nuclear power—no one is sufficiently brilliant to justify getting cheap energy for 40 years in return for storing radioactive waste for several thousand years.

Yes, we may cause cold fusion to work and replace nuclear power.  We may succeed in harnessing solar energy or wind power.  We may even find a way of using coal or petroleum based energy without pollution.

But, until we do, the world is hitting an energy "wall" that won't be overcome by the Titanic Technology of nuclear power.

Of course, as Americans, we might scoff at the idiot Russians and the idiot Japanese who "couldn't handle" their "nukes".  Damn fools.  But, inevitably one of America's 104 commercial reactors (which supply almost 20% of US electricity) will suffer a disaster, we'll evacuate hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) of Americans, and nuclear power will be as suddenly dead in the US as it is in Japan.

In the meantime, the world's third-largest economy (Japan) is headed into an economic depression.   In the sense that Fukushima was built on Titanic Technology (science and arrogance), the coming depression will be man-made.

An economic depression in Japan will almost certainly precipitate an economic depression in the rest of the world—including the US.

Titanic Tech is failing.  We've almost run out arrogance.  We shall soon run out of unwarranted confidence.  Hard times are coming.

Buckle up.

ON DECIDING WHERE TO PLACE A SHELTER

Joel M. Skousen

The concept of a security shelter is more broad than the idea of a Safe Room in that it includes both stand-alone, prefabricated shelters as well as Safe Rooms.  The prime difference is that Safe Rooms are always integral to the basement of a home or building, and prefabricated shelters are almost always buried outside an existing building.   This article will discuss the relative pros and cons of each type of survival shelter and where they are best placed.

It has always been my belief that most people would rather survive hard times within their existing home than a submarine-like tank structure buried in the backyard.  While stand-alone pre-fabricated shelters have the advantage of being ready made, their space is limited and the cost per square foot of usable space is very high compared to basement shelter space.

Buried tanks style shelters, whether in fiberglass, steel or cement are usually cylindrical in shape and thus don't adapt well to normal shelves, cabinets or furniture that is designed for upright walls and level floors.  Everything has to be custom built. In addition, standalone shelters almost always have integral blast doors and valves built in at considerable extra expense.  However, blast valves are only necessary if you are forced to shelter in a blast area.

Almost no one should have a residence in a blast zone, which is generally restricted to within 5 miles of a area targeted by a nuclear explosion.   Why put extra money into a building a  reinforced shelter deep underground in a blast zone when you can better use that money to relocate out of a blast zone and avoid all that direct destruction.  That way you only have to deal with fallout which is much less costly.  My book Strategic Relocation---North American Guide to Safe Places not only covers all the pros and cons of relocating for safety, but how to develop strategies for surviving in major metro areas  when you cannot leave because of work or family.

There's another major problem with buried tank shelters.  ---How to get into them without others blocking your way?  First, it's almost impossible to put one of these shelters into the ground without all the neighbors seeing it come down the street on a big crane truck.  Then, there's the heavy equipment needed to dig the hole.   Once it's known you have a shelter in your backyard, how do you get inside if the entrance is surrounded by neighbors wanted to get inside for protection?

But even if you are successful in evading that problem, in ground shelters have vent pipes sticking out of the ground that can be discovered and sabotaged.  These vents also act as microwave sound amplifiers allowing anyone on the outside to hear everything being said down below.   For these reasons and others, I strongly recommend that a building be placed over any pre-fab shelter in order to conceal the entrance and the vent pipes.  It also provides a roof surface off the ground to place solar panels which provide alternate energy for any shelter.

Let's contrast this with the advantage of the basement shelter. It has been my experience after working in the field of security design for more than 40 years, that if you integrate a shelter and most security features into a conventional-looking home, with a basement, you make those expenditures much more useful and convenient, and you eliminate the access problems that come with an outdoor buried shelter.

There are several advantages to this strategy:

• Access to your high security facilities is convenient and private. You avoid the danger of trying to get into a separate shelter by first crossing open terrain or trying to uncover and open a secret hatch in the ground.

• You can stockpile in the privacy of your own home, so that it remains private.

• Your facilities are easier to conceal when integral to your home.  The entrance to the shelter can be concealed by hidden doors, cabinets or even multiple rooms each with secret access doors.

• You can access all normal household facilities and stockpiles within the same structural system, and often you can provide direct access near the basement shelter via a trap door from a bedroom above---avoiding having to come outside your secure bedroom and down the open stairwell.

• A lower overall profile is maintained, both in construction and operation.  It is much easier to conceal the construction of a shelter as you are building a home since basements are fairly normal events.  The actual fitting out of a shelter can be done after occupancy so that no one sees any details of your concealment strategies.

The best location for a basement shelter or Safe Room is under the garage slab.  First, no one expects there to be basement space under a garage and second, you save part of the cost of the thickened reinforced slab because the normal 4" garage slab is already part of your building cost.   10" is the minimum slab thickness you need over a shelter for fallout protection.   When reinforced property, that slab also makes the safe room fireproof as well.

You can also build a shelter within the normal part of the basement (not under the garage) by integrating the extra concrete slab into the floor structure, and building additional concrete walls and footings to support that weight.   However, all of that is extra expense---unlike the under-garage location where you are simply adding to the already needed garage slab and support footings.   In cold weather climates often the garage footing support walls have to go down 3 or 4 feet anyway to get below the frost line, so you're only adding another 4 feet to those support walls to turn it into basement space.

If you are considering a building a basement shelter into  an existing basement, this is best accomplished by using a corner of the basement and adding two additional concrete block walls to form a rectangular room.  You then use corrugated steel decking to form a lowered ceiling under the existing one and slide solid concrete blocks into place on top of the steel decking.   Specific architectural plans on how to do this remodeling task are found in my other book, How To Implement a Shelter in the Home.

How do Children Benefit from Chiropractic?

Life is such an amazing miracle! Two cells become four and four become eight and so on until nine months later a perfect human being enters the world. The little heart started beating at 24 days. Eyes formed at 36 days. This miracle unfolds perfectly, they are programmed for health – unless there is interference, which is why children can benefit from chiropractic care, where the child is checked for nervous system interference, also known as subluxation.

Chiropractic is based on the fact that our body is programmed for health to be a self-healing, self-regulating organism.  We know that the nervous system and brain are the master control systems of the body, and as long as the brain is able to communicate to body through the nervous system, the body will self-heal and self-regulate.  However, if there is interference within the system, the body does not function optimally.

Many newborns experience colic, unexplained crying, lack of appetite, frequent ear infections or other signs of poor health. A chiropractic examination is essential to determine if there is interference within the nervous system leading to the dysfunction of the child's body.

Most people do not understand where this interference could have come from!  The birth process, even under natural and controlled conditions is potentially traumatic to the small spine and nervous system. Even today's birthing procedures can put tremendous pressures on a child's spine. And while the injury from forceps deliveries may be less common today, vacuum extraction and eager hands can do even more damage by pulling, forcing and twisting the baby's young spine.  Physical traumas are only one cause of subluxation, they can also be caused by chemical and emotional factors as well. The doctor of chiropractic specializes in the detection and correction of subluxations.

If indicated, a gentle, life-affirming adjustment is given. With no more pressure than you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato, nerve-compromising subluxations can be reduced. Almost miraculously, many parents see instant improvements in the well-being of their child.

Later, regular chiropractic checkups are helpful to monitor spinal development as infants sit upright, learn to crawl and take their first brave steps. Many experts believe that uncorrected spinal problems during this early stage of development cause the chronic, hard-to-correct subluxations seen in adults.

Sadly, bedwetting and many childhood aches and pains are passed off as "growing pains" or "just a phase." Careful! Aches and pains at any age are warning signals that something is not right. Subluxations may be involved.  Subluxations can be linked to causing chronic ear infections, constipation along with a long line of childhood problems.

As you make decisions about your baby's health care and are confronted with the issues of antibiotics, vaccinations and the growing use of behavior altering drugs, consult with your chiropractor. Seek accurate information and make an informed choice. Start by making sure your child's nervous system is free of subluxations.

What's Ailing America?  "HEALTH" CARE

Rebecca Carley, MD
www.reversingvaccineinduceddiseases.com

As long as I can remember, I have had a passion for healing, for ending suffering.  As a child, I would rescue wounded critters of all types.  When I was 10 years old a surgeon saved my life after I suffered an infection in my abdominal cavity called peritonitis when my appendix burst.  From that time forward, my dream was to become a medical doctor myself.  I accomplished that goal, graduating from State University of NY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn with a degree in medicine in 1987.  At graduation, we all raised our right hand and took the Hippocratic Oath to "first do no harm".  I had decided to become a surgeon myself due to positive experiences I had on my surgery rotations in medical school, as well as my personal experience as a child.

During medical school, students are focused on learning what they are taught and memorizing facts for the never ending exams.  Severe sleep deprivation is unavoidable, resulting in an inability to question the logic of how medicine is practiced.  We had 2 years of pharmacology, and 10 hours of nutrition.  We were taught that "vitamins give you expensive urine".  The side effects of pharmaceuticals were mentioned, but always downplayed as being rare.  The only mention of any "alternative" healing modality was chiropractic, which we were taught was a dangerous form of quackery that could result in paralysis or death.  Rarely was a reason given for why any patient had acquired a disease; smoking causes lung cancer and emphysema, alcohol causes liver disease, bacteria and viruses were microscopic attackers that only drugs could eliminate; better to inject them as vaccines to arm the body with antibodies ready to eliminate the germs that invaded the body.  But in most cases, diseases just "happened" for unknown reasons unless someone else in the family had the same condition (in which case the patient's genetics was the culprit).  We were taught not to question the practice of medicine; after all, our medical system is supposedly "the best in the world".

In residency training the dark side of medicine became self evident.  Residents were worked like slaves, especially in surgery; in some rotations where call was every other night, we worked as many as 120 hours/week.  One of the bizarre traditions in surgery was that the resident who had been on call the night before (and usually had no sleep) was the one who would operate on the patients scheduled for surgery.  People who go to "teaching hospitals" for treatment have no idea of the danger they face as sleep deprived robot residents, usually with minimal oversight by attending physicians, operate on them and make medical decisions for the patients they are assigned to.  Mistakes occur on a regular basis; a group called "utilization review" goes through patients' charts to make sure that mistakes are covered up.  The only time I am aware of where I made a mistake that resulted in the patient having a problem was when an elderly woman with bilateral leg amputations was admitted to the hospital for higher amputations. She gave no history of heart problems, so when I put an IV in her arm and wrote her IV fluid orders, I prescribed a rate of IV fluid administration as I would for a patient with no heart problems.  She then developed fluid overload in her lungs and started having problems breathing.  This was easily dealt with by giving her IV Lasix (a diuretic).  However, I wrote in her chart that I had caused this by giving her too much IV fluid, and told her family when they came to visit that what had happened demonstrated that she could not receive a normal IV fluid infusion rate, and that any time she was admitted they should tell the doctors what had happened so this could be avoided in the future.  They were so grateful to me for telling them what I did, each family member hugged me.  Although I felt bad that she had temporarily suffered from difficulty breathing, I felt very good that the family now knew what to do so this did not happen again.  When I wrote my notes in the patient's chart for that day, I reported all of this.  The next day I was paged by utilization review, who ordered me to REWRITE THE NOTE, removing any admission that I had prescribed too high of a fluid rate to be administered.  I was told that this would give the patient an opportunity to sue the hospital, and I was never to do anything like this again.

This is just the tip of the iceberg; so many unconscionable acts (including euthanasia, research fraud and experimentation on poor people without their knowledge or consent) were witnessed by myself that eventually I resigned from my position.  I am writing a book asking the question "how did the Hippocratic oath become the hypocritic oath?" revealing what is really going on in the "health care system" which I hope to have published this year.  However, it was my subsequent experience giving birth to my only child, Joey, who developed brain damage after receiving all the recommended vaccines that started me researching that can of worms.  I have realized that vaccines cause a corruption in the immune system that leads to all autoimmune diseases, non-traumatic seizures, cancer and genetic damage, in people and in pets.  In other words, vaccine induced disease is the biggest epidemic the world has ever known, and in fact is the umbrella under which all of "internal medicine" resides.  Additionally, after a friend suggested I go to a homeopath (a word I never heard in medical school) to be evaluated for treatment of a non-union fracture in my foot as well as endometriosis, I did so.  Not only did the homeopathic remedies that were suggested CURE both conditions, but the homeopath also mentioned that there were remedies that could reverse vaccine damage, which I started giving to Joey.  I watched in amazement as he became a different child.  This is when I realized that homeopathy was never mentioned in medical school because it actually cures people.  I can't describe the depth of the "dark night of the soul" I experienced at that time, realizing that the profession I had so proudly joined in fact had been so corrupted by big pharma that they are now creating and "managing" disease by giving drugs that cure nothing, and labeling natural therapies that actually work as "quackery".  I developed diagrams (the first one of which, called "the big picture", describes the cause of all disease), as well as a protocol using natural therapies to reverse the cause of disease.  The response of the medical mafia to me "stepping out of the box" in such a profound way has resulted in my goal now being to cause the death of mediSIN.  People need to empower themselves by learning what toxins to avoid, how to detox those they have already been exposed to, as well as the importance of eating healthy, organic food, drinking pure (non-fluoridated) water, and getting all chemicals out of the home.  In my opinion, the only reason anyone should go to a hospital is for an emergency; and while there, it is critical to have a loved one present 24/7 to observe what is going on, ask hard questions and take notes.  Escape as fast as you can, stopping my medical records to get a copy of your records before any changes can be made.  Everyone should have records of any test, procedure or treatment that has ever been done to them.  These records will be critical down the line should any complications develop.

We now wait to see if the Supreme Court will deem Obama's ridiculous mandate to force everyone to have insurance (which covers nothing that actually works).  This is an attempt to force the millions of Americans who know that natural solutions are the common sense way to deal with health issues, who are spending billions of dollars out of pocket to pay for those remedies, to submit to big pharma.  This is medical tyranny.  If you don't have your health you have nothing; so I cannot more strongly suggest that you do all you can to stand up against what is happening. In future columns, I will continue to answer the question "What's Ailing America?"; unfortunately, I will never run out of answers to this question (which is also the title of my internet radio show). However, in this first column, I wanted to put the biggest threat to all of us in the spotlight; the "health care" system itself.

Vitamin D – "Nature's Medicine Chest" by Ty Bollinger

Raise your hand if you think sunlight causes skin cancer. For decades, doctors and the "cancer industry" have warned us stay out of the "dangerous" sunlight and/or use plenty of sunscreen. But is this good advice?

Did you know Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis and autism?  Vitamin D isn't really a "true" vitamin, as we don't need food to attain it. Natural sunlight allows our body to create vitamin D and even destroys excessive amounts. How does that happen?  When the sun's ultraviolet B ("UVB") rays hit your skin, they trigger a precholesterol molecule (7-dehydrocholesterol), which is then turned into Vitamin D3 (aka "cholecalciferol"). The mechanisms by which vitamin D reduces the risk of cancer are fairly well understood. They include enhancing calcium absorption, inducing cell differentiation, increasing apoptosis (programmed cell death), reducing metastasis and proliferation, and reducing angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels).

Researchers in Belgium appear to be the first to show that vitamin D also lowers C-reactive protein (CRP), a measure of inflammation in the body, in critically ill patients. CRP is elevated when there is inflammation in the body, and chronic inflammation is a risk factor for a number of conditions including coronary heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Research studies have shown a direct connection between Vitamin D deficiency and heart disease.  The authors of a 2006 article in the American Journal of Public Healthstate, after a review of more than 60 studies on Vitamin D and Cancer, that cancer occurrence and death could be reduced with improved levels of Vitamin D in the body.

The incidence of breast cancer could be reduced by 50% and colon cancer by 80%!  And a June 2007 Creighton University School of Medicine study indicated that appropriate levels of vitamin D3 (and calcium) reduced the risk of cancer by a staggering 77%! A 2009 study by a group of Leeds University researchers actually found that higher levels of vitamin D were linked to improved skin cancer survival odds, while other studies have found that vitamin D has a connection to a strong immune response in the body.

Don't fall for the "sunscreen myth." The idea that sunscreen prevents cancer is a myth promoted by a greedy "tag-team" effort between the "cancer industry" and the sunscreen industry. Sunlight is actually good for you (especially the UVB rays), and sunscreens filter out UVB!  The main chemical used in sunscreens to filter out UVB is octylmethoxycinnamate (aka "OMC") which has been shown to kill mouse cells even at low doses.  Plus, it was also shown to be particularly toxic when exposed to sunshine. And guess what? OMC is present in 90% of sunscreen brands!

The most popular brands of sunscreens also contain other toxic chemicals (such as dioxybenzone and oxybenzone) that are absorbed through the skin where they enter the bloodstream, generate free radicals, wreak havoc on the immune system, damage the liver and the heart, and even promote systemic cancer.   Titanium dioxide, another common ingredient in sunscreens, has been classified as "a potential occupational carcinogen" by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.  If you want to use a natural sunscreen, try aloe vera gel. Also, we use Dr. Mercola's "Natural Sunscreen with Green Tea" for the kiddos if we are going to be out in the sun for prolonged periods of time.

I am *NOT* saying that you should sit out in the sun until you're red and crisp like a lobster! Burning will damage cellular DNA, which leads to cancer. If you're pale as a ghost, you probably want to start out with just a few minutes in the sun each day. My wife, Charlene, can sit in the sun for an hour (or more) each day and not get burned. But you need to understand that antioxidants (in fruits and vegetables) and proper nutrition (specifically the B vitamins) will prevent sunburn.

Here's a little trivia: the term "Red Neck" actually originated from the early American colonists (in the South) who would get sunburned necks during the summer. But their "red necks" were not just a result of being in the sun all day. They were a result of a nutritional deficiency.  You see, the colonists didn't understand how to properly process corn like the American Indians did. The Indians processed corn using potash (which is highly alkaline) that makes the B vitamins in corn available for assimilation during digestion. But the American settlers (too arrogant to follow the food preparation ways of the Indian "savages") would simply grind up their corn and consume it as corn flour (corn meal). This resulted in vitamin B deficiencies, which (when coupled with too much sun exposure) would result in their "red necks." By the way, the nutritional deficiency link to sunburn has been supported with multiple studies, including a study published in the 2004 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

A study just published in May 2012 found that people exposed to more sunlight had a significantly lower risk of many types of cancer.  This study followed more than 450,000 white, non-Hispanic subjects aged 50-71 years from diverse geographic areas in the USA. A total of 75,000 participants in the study contracted cancer. The study found that 12 types of cancer were reduced in those subjects exposed to more sunlight. These included cancers of the lungs, prostate, pancreas, colon, thyroid and many other types. This research confirms the protective effect of Vitamin D for many types of cancer (as no other known factors in sun exposure would account for these findings) and provides even more evidence that sun exposure is beneficial and that the routine use of sunscreens is imprudent. [Lin SW, Wheeler DC, Park Y, Cahoon EK, Hollenbeck AR, Michal Freedman D, Abnet CC. Prospective study of ultraviolet radiation exposure and risk of cancer in the U.S. Int J Cancer. 2012 Apr 26. doi: 10.1002/ijc.27619.]

In light of the fact that the best place to get vitamin D is natural sunlight AND the fact that vitamin D deficiency can lead to cancer, diabetes, and numerous other life threatening diseases, the warning to "stay out of the sun" is completely irrational! And despite the importance of vitamin D, it's estimated that over 50% of the US population is vitamin D deficient.  During the summer, my family tries to lie out in the sun for at least 30 minutes, four to five times per week, to obtain sufficient vitamin D to stay healthy and strong.

However, in the winter time, you'll need a good vitamin D3 supplement.  But take note that most vitamin D supplements are virtually worthless.  Here's why: The vitamin D in milk and in most vitamin supplements is vitamin D2 and is synthetic. Vitamin D2 is also called "ergocalciferol." It is not the form of vitamin D that you need to prevent cancer and degenerative diseases. The form of vitamin D which you need is vitamin D3 ("cholecalciferol") and, as I mentioned above, it is produced from the UVB rays in sunlight. That's why I frequently refer to sunshine as the "most affordable cancer-fighting nutrient in the world." Think about it, you can get a lifetime supply for FREE!

HEALTH - by Herbalist Wendy Wilson
STRUGGLING AMERICANS

These days it isn't just American's that are struggling. However, since America appears to be a leading nation we will focus on what's up on American soil. Health and wealth go hand-in-hand. Of course I'm not telling you anything new am I? The situation may seem pretty bad but there are things we can do to at the very least protect our health during stressful and dangerous times.

FEDERAL RESERVE

Have you seen the June issue of the Federal Reserve's 2012 Bulletin? According to their figures, American households have lost 40% of their wealth. Folks making just over $126k in 2007 are now making what they made in 1992 ($77k). This wipes out twenty years of wealth accumulation for middle class families. The average middle class family's income before taxes (adjusted for inflation) fell 7.7%. The areas of the US affected most were the South and West regions. While Americans struggle to balance their family budgets, the US government did away with their budget. A fine example of might over right.

BIG BUSINESS

Big business in American is noticing declines everywhere. Kraft Foods conducted a survey and found that 63% of Americans have morning low energy and are less productive. The reason they found was that most Americans are not eating breakfast. Is it because they don't like eating breakfast, don't have time to eat breakfast or don't have the money for breakfast foods?  Remember, Americans are still trying to balance their household budgets and one way to attempt to do that is to eat less. Americans (61%) know that they should eat breakfast and that it is the most important meal of the day. So, why are only 48% of Americans scrambling eggs or pouring cereal before they head to work or school? After all, the human body needs to break the fast (breakfast) and eat something. In the Kraft survey many answered that they don't have time for a morning meal. Overall, the survey found that 53% of men who do eat breakfast stated that they feel more productive compared to 44% for females. Well, could it be that getting children ready in the morning eats up the time women would normally have for breakfast? Overall what does all this mean? It means that 2 out of 3 Americans have no nutritional breakfast fuel and low energy levels for half the work day. The accumulated affect of this undermines health.

RIPPLE EFFECT

Routinely skipping meals reduces B vitamin levels, which help balance neurotransmitters in the brain. The body's production of serotonin is affected and dealing with stress, anxiety and trauma are extremely more difficult. You need good healthy food with vitamins for your metabolism to absorb healthy fats, carbohydrates, digest protein and supply the building blocks for healthy brain cells. Without healthy meals (all of them), you risk altering your mood and also increases your risk of lowered immune system and degenerative disease.

YOUR RESILIENCE

How resilient do you think half of America will be when they don't eat healthy meals or skip one or more meals a day? New York City is hosting the World Science Festival in June 2012 featuring "How We Bounce Back: The New Science of Human Resilience". The festival's focus was on preparedness, education, exercise, meditation and compassion and to enable people to deal with disappointment and difficulties. The lists of expert speakers are from the fields of psychiatry, clinical and social psychology and Buddhism. Where are the nutrition experts? How do they expect folks to deal with all the craziness without good nutrition to stay healthy? Nutrition is the very foundation of our resilience and survival.  If you want to survive the new reality out there you will need to understand that physical and mental resilience begins at the molecular level. Your cells can't do their part to protect you from the trauma inflicted by fats and free radicals if you don't have the right fuel. Forget the NY Festival and find out how you can really prepare with antioxidants, healthy fats, lean protein, wholesome fiber and organic supplements.

EXHAUSTED AMERICANS

Americans are not just tired because they haven't eaten breakfast. Many of them have exhausted immune, adrenal and hormonal systems. Your cells live and thrive when they are buffered from stress. You need antioxidants to buffer, specifically the glutathione antioxidant system. When I say stress I mean the kind of toxins that stress your cells such as; infectious antigens, heavy metals, radiation, drama, trauma, drugs, chemicals, vaccines, GMO's, food additives, pesticides and plastic chemical residues to name just a few. We have over 19 categories and over 3,000 FDA approved food additives. The first food additive (boric acid) was added to our food as early as the 1870's. We have more toxins assaulting our body on a daily basis then ever before. We need to counter this bombardment with a solid defense to prevent ill health. Disease treatment with drugs and surgery is not disease prevention but disease management. Depending on what you eat, you could be prime for a major disease. Don't let oxidative stress rob you.

OVERWHELMED DEFENSES

What happens when our natural disease defenses are overwhelmed? Degenerative disease will crop up such as; diabetes, heart disease, chronic fatigue, cognitive and neurological disorders, kidney failure and cancer. If American were to endure a serious national disaster it would wipe out nearly a third to one half of the American population because they will be unable to remain strong in the face of disaster. Their system will buckle under the oxidative stress because they have a weak or nonexistent antioxidant defense. Clinical studies show that our immune system relies on antioxidants to neutralize threatening molecules (free radicals) and to stay strong. Without it you won't be able to fight off even the weakest virus, germ or toxin. So, has your immune system retired prematurely? If so, it means you are not eating the right foods regularly and your buffers are spent.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?

Life has become more complicated adding to our stress. We have more conveniences but less free time. We exercise our rights more than our bodies. We have fewer responsibilities and more government. Do you see a pattern here? Man is becoming less responsible and would rather be socially correct than morally right. We have a moral obligation to take care of our body. Flu season will be here within six months and now is the perfect time to strengthen your immune system and put super nutrition into your system. You don't learn how to fire a gun during the war – you train and prepare. Infectious pathogens are the enemy, and now is the time to prepare.
